PLANTER SIZING GUIDE
How to Size Your Existing Planters
How to Measure Your Planter
Planter sizing is based solely on the size of your planter’s mouth, determining how many overall plants we will need to fully fill your planter.
Round Planters
Measure straight across the inside of the planter from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge. This measurement is the planter’s inside diameter.
Square Planters
Measure the inside opening from edge to edge.
Rectangular Planters
For rectangular planters, record both the length and width of the planter mouth. Then multiple the measurements to get the overall area:
WIDTH in inches x LENGTH in inches= AREA in square inches
Tips for Accurate Measurements
- Measure the inside of the planter where the soil and plants will sit.
- Do not include the thickness of the planter walls.
- Round measurements to the nearest inch.
- If your planter tapers inward, measure the opening at the top.
